Travel Mae Hong Son Detail

Mae Hong Son is a northern province of Thailand and also the western province of this country. Mae Hong Son is bordered by provinces and regions in the north such as the Shan State of Myanmar, Chiang Mai province, Tak province, and Kayin & Kayah States of Myanmar in the west. The population density of this province is lowest in Thailand provinces.

Mae Hong Son is located among mountain ranges and has a cooler climate than other parts of Thailand. The Salween River is a natural border between this province and Myanmar. As part of the Kingdom of Lannathai as well as the Kingdom of Myanmar, the strong influence of Myanmar can be seen clearly in the architectural style of buildings and temples. The most famous is the Buddhist temple Wat Phra Nom built in the late 19th century under the hill of Kongmu Pagoda. The lying Buddist statue is 12m long. At the top of the hill is the Phra Thart Temple built in 1860. When standing here, you can see the panorama of Mae Hong Son hidden in the mist.

The main tourist attraction in Mae Hong Son is a mountainous landscape with some ethnic minorities such as the Hmong, Dao, La Hu, Lisu, Akha and Karen, San Chay and especially the Mae Ngao National Park where visitors explore the mountains and forests. If you visit Mae Hong Son province of Thailand, you will meet beautiful girls with the high necks and the long necklaces.
